Job description

The Forensic Liaison Officer (FLO) is a senior clinician role works collaboratively with community and inpatient mental health services, state-wide services, other government and non-government organisations to provide oversight, monitoring and coordination of the assessment, treatment and care of consumers under the Forensic provisions of the Mental Health Act (Qld) 2016 or those at heightened risk of becoming involved in the Criminal Justice System

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with Schedule 2, Nurses and Midwives (Queensland Health Award) (2015) – Generic Level Statements and the Queensland Health and SCHHS commitments and values, in achievement of organisational goals and Domains of Practice.
  • Assume responsibility and accountability for own actions and outcomes of practice, professional advice given and for activities delegated to other nurses, midwives and unregulated healthcare workers.
  • Provide nursing leadership that drives system and quality improvement initiatives and champions change management.
  • Utilise high level knowledge and skills to provide a consultation liaison service to mental health staff on issues relating to FO, TSO and higher risk consumers.
  • Provide expert advice and training to case managers and treating teams on the ongoing monitoring and reporting requirements for forensic and classified consumers, in addition to regularly reviewing and providing advice on the management, treatment and risk management plans of Forensic Order / consumers identified as higher risk which includes the ensuring that any recommendations made by ARMC or CFOS are incorporated into the care plan and progressed.
Remuneration value up to $152 776 p.a., comprising salary between $124 435 - $133 901 p.a., employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (HP4) (temporary position available for 12 months). Remuneration value up to $159 429 p.a., comprising salary between $128 701 - $139 732 p.a., employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (Nurse Grade 7) (temporary position available for 12 months).
