Forming part of Events South Australia (the events arm of SATC), the General Manager Acquisition & Development is responsible for leading the team to create, develop and procure events as well as work with promoters to support the delivery events, whilst maximising outcomes for the state.
This role will lead the Acquisition & Development team and as a member of a small ESA Management team the incumbent will be jointly responsible for cooperative and inspiring leadership, resulting in staff that are engaged and motivated to ensure the tourism industry has the best possible chance of meeting or exceeding its goal.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Contribute as a member of the ESA Management team to the development implementation and evaluation of the unit's plans emanating from the SATC Roadmap and aligning with Events and Festivals Strategy.
- Ensure research and insights are procured to facilitate optimal Acquisition and Development outcomes.
- Support the effective account management of all sponsored events (major and regional) to ensure the delivery of benefits and key performance objectives are achieved.
- Supported by Executive Director ESA, lead regular meetings with the Department of Premier and Cabinet (DPC) and briefings for government or MEAC, as required.
- Based on risk assessment, consider possible risk mitigation strategies for new events.
