We are seeking a General Manager Procurement, who will be responsible for leading and managing an integrated function to maximise the creation of business value by balancing risk, efficiency, governance and value in Sunwater’s sourcing and purchasing activities. This position will lead, drive and improve performance, accountability, capability and engagement outcomes.
The role:
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will be responsible for developing, implementing and managing strategic plans and initiatives to optimise procurement planning and programming. This includes category, contract and supplier strategies and performance, sourcing initiatives, benefit identification and realisation to deliver optimum, fit for purpose goods and services. You will bring thought leadership to the role, contributing to Sunwaters strategic objectives, recognising the part that effective and efficient procurement practises can play in the development of a disciplined and value focused culture. Other responsibilities include:
- Lead the uplift and sophistication of the procurement function in Sunwater across all facets, leveraging recent and planned investments in technology and people to better plan, execute, measure and assess procurement initiatives.
- Lead, coach and develop the Procurement team members by setting clear expectations, communicating regularly and monitoring performance to develop a safe, positive and productive work environment.
- Drive leadership, governance and a strategic vision of procurement excellence across all procurement activities, including governance processes, technology/systems, analytics, reports, and performance.
- Lead high level negotiations with procurement partners and suppliers and establish collaborative stakeholder supplier relationships to maximise the organisation’s commercial objectives.
You will bring:
We are seeking a procurement professional with extensive experience in overseeing the development, implementation and maintenance of fit-for-purpose procurement frameworks and associated tools. You will lead and manage significant change and transformation initiatives and be able to influence and manage conflict resolution across multiple stakeholder groups. You will have experience in drafting Board level recommendation papers which capture and articulate procurement, contracts and commercial risks and have demonstrated business acumen and commercial experience in balancing risk, governance and practical outcomes. In addition, you will have:-
- Degree qualification in business, procurement or related disciplines.
- Experience in building, leading and managing procurement teams and providing coaching and mentoring to deliver successful outcomes.
- Significant experience in developing and implementing sourcing strategies across a broad range of categories.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, including to the ability to influence and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
- Experience in large infrastructure businesses and/or Government/GOC environments
