About the role
The Corporate Health and Safety Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing our Health and Safety programs, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, and providing support to our project teams. This is a key role in our business, and we are looking for a highly motivated and experienced professional to join our team.
Key responsibilities
- Provide H&S input during the tendering process to ensure works meet specification and legislative requirements
- Set up each project's Health and Safety system and hand it over to the Project Health and Safety Manager
- Maintain business H&S systems in accordance with Legislation, Vinci and ISO requirements
- Audit projects to ensure compliance with H&S systems
- Develop and implement effective H&S training programs for managers, supervisors, new employees, and those involved in particular hazard areas to ensure the adoption of safe working practices
- Ensure critical staff and managers are kept up to date with emerging safety trends, hazards, and legislative changes
- Prepare monthly internal reports for SCA management and corporate head office, including H&S statistics against corporate KPIs, H&S issues or concerns, progress on new procedures or processes, and any serious incidents, hazards, or risks
- Undertake the role of Rehabilitation & Return to Work Coordinator, liaising with HR for the management of WorkCover Claims
- Provide leadership during serious safety situations at the workplace
- Lead investigator in any High Potential H&S incidents utilising Tap-Root process
- Provide cover as required for project Health and Safety personnel
- Develop and participate in regular Emergency Response Drills
- Identify health, safety, environmental, and quality hazards that may arise and develop corrective actions to ensure close out
Skills and experience
- Bachelor of Science in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role
- Strong understanding of relevant Health and Safety legislation
- Experience in developing and implementing Health and Safety programs
- Experience in conducting safety audits and investigations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
