This role is based at Falls Creek, the premier all-season alpine village and resort located in the Victorian High Plains. The beautiful alpine village is ski-in-ski-out during the winter months and turns into an outdoor mecca during summer. Falls Creek is part of Vail Resorts who own and operate ski areas including iconic resorts such as Perisher and Hotham in Australia as well as Park City, Beaver Creek, Whistler Blackcomb and Vail in North America.
In this role, you will:
- Oversee, direct and coordinate a systems-based approach to the management of company health, safety and environment activities with the goal of effecting compliance with relevant legislation and standards, ensuring alignment with relevant company policy, the pursuit of best practice to ensure sustainable resource use, the minimising of cost and the maintaining or improving of quality standards.
- Work collaboratively with other departments to design, deliver and review risk management programs.
- Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure that compliance to risk management policy is being implemented, identify areas of non-compliance and recommended improvements.
- Liaise with the broader Vail Resort Australia Safety and Environment teams to foster learning, develop best practice and where applicable align policy.
To be considered for this role, you should have:
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a management position within Health and Safety or a related field
- Demonstrated experience in the risk management and/or compliance field, developing operational safety plans and comprehensive safety best practice agendas
- Experience in the application of risk management principles, management systems implementation and company-wide legislative compliance programs.
- An ability to communicate positively and effectively with all levels of management and staff
