PWS is seeking an enthusiastic Drama Technical Officer to join the High School Faculty to work with the High School students and Drama Teachers from Class 8 to Class 12. The successful applicant will have a passion for theatre. Technical skills including knowledge of lighting and sound is necessary. An appreciation for Steiner pedagogy, philosophy and the typical development phases through which children develop is desirable. A desire to learn more and grow is essential. The school will support you in your knowledge of Steiner Education and your professional development overall.
Drama is compulsory for all students in classes 8 to 10. In addition to having regular timetabled classes, students perform in eight productions each year. The two drama teachers are responsible for directing these productions, which requires a commitment outside of school hours.
The Drama Technical Officer would need to work closely with the drama teachers and the production team to establish the creative vision for each Production and then undertake and coordinate technical elements.
Instructing and overseeing small groups of students who would assist in the work would sometimes be required.
The role includes supporting festivals and school events. It could also involve coordinating and facilitating communication in the drama department for the right candidate.
The work hours will have some flexibility, and the hours required each week may vary according to the production schedule.
The school is located in a bush land setting near Bibra Lake in the southern suburbs of Perth (approx. 20 minutes from the CBD and 15 minutes from Fremantle). We provide a Steiner education from Playgroup to Class 12.
Applicants must have permission to work in Western Australia (Sponsorship is NOT possible) and hold a Working with Children Check or be willing to apply for one.
