About the business unit:
The Business Partnering and Workplace Relations Division comprises of HR Business Partners and Workplace Relations specialists who provide end-to-end advice and support on all employee and industrial relations matters. The Division is primarily focused on assisting Victoria Police in managing the workforce, in line with certified industrial agreements and employment legislation.
About the role:
The HR Business Partner is a newly created role within the Business Partnering and Workplace Relations Division that provides support and high-level advice to the Eastern Region Health and Wellbeing Hub and assigned client portfolios on a broad range of generalist human resources functions.
The Health and Wellbeing Hubs is the single most significant investment in the health, safety, and wellbeing of Victoria Police employees to prevent and respond to work related injuries. Six multi-disciplinary teams, based in hubs across the state are being established, enhancing employee's mental health, injury prevention, early intervention, and recovery support.
Reporting to the Senior HR Business Partner, you will work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide coaching, assistance and practical support to people leaders. The role has a HR generalist focus, providing support across the employee life cycle, with a focus on early identification of workplace trends, and increasing capability, engagement and productivity particularly around performance management and workplace conflict. This newly created position offers an exciting opportunity to support Victoria Police employees.
This position is located at the Eastern Region Headquarters in Knox, with requirement to travel to the Victoria Police Centre, Spencer St Melbourne, for engagement with the broader HR Business Partner team. Please note you may be required to travel to various other metropolitan and regional locations across the Eastern Region to support clients.
Your duties will include:
- Working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide high level HR partnering services with allocated regions, commands and departments.
- Building a reputation as a trusted advisor, demonstrating HR delivery skills, with strong levels of knowledge and competence in human resource management related matters, including an ability to develop innovative solutions to complex people management challenges;
- Providing coaching, advice and assistance to people leaders across a broad range of HR functions including performance management, workplace conflict, bullying and workplace behaviours;
- Working closely with management and employees to improve workplace relationships, build morale and increase capability, engagement and productivity;
- Proactively identify workplace trends, issues and opportunities;
- Overnight travel may be required for this role.
As the successful applicant, you will have:
- A demonstrated ability to partner with people leaders to uplift management capability in the areas of performance management, workplace conflict and workplace behaviours.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including the ability to produce a range of reports, correspondence and recommendations which are evidence based and provide a sound basis for decision making.
- Ability to plan and deliver work and projects aligned to business objectives and to anticipate and address barriers to achievement.
- Experience in case managing a range of human resource issues, with knowledge of employee relations and of contemporary developments in human resource management.
- Proven ability to monitor client and stakeholder satisfaction, and constructively manage stakeholder issues to ensure positive outcomes.
- A tertiary level degree in HR (or equivalent qualification) is highly desirable.
