The Role

Rocky Repro specialises in Bovine Artificial Reproduction Services and is an export accredited centre with established domestic and international genetics markets. We are looking to hire an Import/Export Officer to manage our growing imports and exports of bovine genetic material.

This is a key role requiring a high level of communications with third parties (clients, business partners, and relevant statutory bodies) to deliver successful Import/Export outcomes for our clients.

The role is client focused, and market driven, servicing seedstock customers across all breeds but, in particular, those breeds prevalent in Queensland and Northern Australia.

Rocky Repro is Queensland’s premier Bovine Reproduction Centre offering a range of in-centre and on-farm bovine reproduction services and our clients represent some of the leading seedstock producers in Australia. 

Our purpose-built facility houses up to 80 bulls at any given time for the collection, production, storage, and marketing of genetic material. Our production and morphology laboratories ensure our product is of the highest quality to meet the discerning demands of global seedstock markets.

Rocky Repro is located only 15km from Rockhampton the hub of central Qld and is only a 1 hour flight to/from Brisbane. The Centre’s is located in a pleasant semi-rural lifestyle environment. Rockhampton has a population of approximately 80,000 and is well serviced with schools, hospitals, art, and sporting facilities. It has all the amenities of a vibrant regional centre and is only ½ an hour from the beach – an ideal location for both singles and families.

The Position

The position would suit a candidate with several years’ experience in a related export role, ideally in bovine seedstock genetics markets.  Someone with experience in and knowledge of relevant export protocols, regulatory requirements, shipping procedures, and documentation. 

The position we have available is full time (38 hrs/week) Monday to Friday with no scheduled weekend work. You would be working in a professional purpose-built office with an excellent friendly team.

While you will enjoy a high degree of autonomy, you will also be well supported by the Centre’s management team, production lab technicians, morphologists, administration, and dispatch staff.  

You will work with the collections team to scheduling relevant health tests. You will be responsible for timely preparation of samples in readiness for testing by external specialist laboratories, tracking and monitoring returned results, and diligently recording returned laboratory results for export production and compliance. 

We acknowledge this is a niche business and the ‘ideal’ skillset may be difficult to find, so we welcome applications from candidates who may have related skills and/or experience that would allow them to grow into the role with some guidance on the job training.

We are offering to negotiate an attractive salary package commensurate with skills and experience. 

About You

You will have a flair for customer service, a natural attention to detail, and the patient persistence to drive an outcome through a, sometimes, lengthy process cycle. You will be diligent with excellent organisational skills.

You are a dedicated professional with a mature work ethic and a high attention to customer service. 

Ideally you will have:

• Experience in an export-related role or a role requiring a similar skillset.
• Broad knowledge of (bovine) seed-stock markets (desirable).
• Excellent written and spoken communications skills.
• A high level of attention to detail.
• A high level of personal motivation and drive to succeed.
• Excellent administrative and record keeping skills.
• Excellent organisational skills.
