The Corrections and Justice Services (CJS) group, comprising Corrections Victoria, Justice Health and Justice Services, plays an integral role in developing safer and more resilient communities and in delivering a trusted justice and community safety system.
As part of the CJS group, the DPFC is a 568 bed medium to maximum-security facility for female offenders located within the West Metropolitan Region, Department of Justice.
DPFC operates a Needs Based Precinct model, with prisoners accommodated in precincts aligned to their identified needs. DPFC has two new buildings as part of its specialist Health and Wellbeing Precinct, dedicated to supporting prisoners with mental health, cognitive impairment, physical disabilities and complex needs.
About the Role
At the Dame Phyllis Frost Centre (DPFC), each Justice Officer role specialises in one of four streams – Records/Property, Human Resources, Finance/Stores and Administration. Over time, and with appropriate support and training, Justice Officers may be rotated between these streams to provide career enhancement opportunities to those staff, and operational flexibility to the prison. The position works across the prisoner property area and records area and may be rotated between them. It involves the handling, processing, storage and retrieval of prisoner property and providing advice to prisoners and other stakeholders on legislation and/or policy regarding appropriate property. The records area is responsible for processing new prisoners into the prison and the release of existing prisoners to freedom or for court appearances.
This position will require direct prisoner contact and may involve weekend and public holiday work, remunerated in accordance with the applicable provision of the VPS Determination.
