Russo Higher Education (RHE) Pty Ltd are currently seeking a full time AcademicLearning Advisor based in Brisbane CBD. This is working within James Cook University Brisbane which is a campus of James Cook University operated in partnership with RHE.
The Academic Learning Advisor is responsible for delivering student learning support with a holistic view to improve academic performance and the overall student experience. The role aims to enhance the quality of the learning experience of our diverse student body through the building of academic skills, language, dispositions and behaviours prioritising student progressions and intervention planning.
Part of your role, you will be required to:
- Provide expert assistance to students in the subject areas consistent with offerings from the Colleges of the Arts, Society and Education; Business, Law and Governance; and Science and Engineering.
- Support student needs and academic requirements by contributing to the development, design and delivery of learning materials and online resources, informed by data and identified need.
- Promote academic skills such as academic writing, referencing, research skills, and English assistance.
- Deliver face to face sessions, consultations, workshops and coaching on a range of academic and progression skills to improve student capabilities.
- Engage in student consultations to ascertain academic and progression needs and engagement strategies.
- Develop intervention strategies for the academic development of underprepared and students at risk, improving progress and retention.
- Provide course advice, unit selection, study planning in consultation with the lecturers.
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate:
- Relevant Tertiary qualification e.g., learning support, education, or a related discipline (essential).
- Previous teaching experience.
- Experience as a study adviser to international students.
- Ability to work autonomously in a patient, encouraging and caring manner.
- Inclusive approaches and adeptness in working with a diverse student population.
- Proficiency in English with strong grammar, academic writing, and presentation skills.
- Exceptional relationship-building and communication abilities.
