The Learning Designer is responsible for developing and designing learning solutions that are in line with established and emerging best practices, that meet business requirements and are suitable for multi-channel delivery (for example, digital, face to face, virtual or on-the-job).

Job Description

As a Learning Designer, your role is to employ innovative instructional design practices, create engaging learning experiences, and contribute to the development of leadership and technical skills within a contemporary learning framework.

You will:

  • Develop exceptional learning solutions and resources by using contemporary instructional design methodologies, with the goal to improve performance and build leadership and technical capability.
  • Design high-quality instructional material through story boarding for online learning programs.
  • Identify target audiences and work with Head of HR and Training to identify specific training needs.
  • Identify and implement continual improvement to learning programs, resources and activities.
  • Bring learning content to life through the design and development engaging and creative learning experiences to complement a contemporary learning delivery approach.
  • Ensure delivery and output is aligned to the Training and Development Plan, and the priorities of the wider HR and Training team.
  • Establish ongoing data collection to measure the impact, effectiveness, and return on investment of L&D initiatives, and create insights that inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement.
  • Leverage feedback, research, insights and data to identify opportunities for improvement, change or adjustment, applying an innovative approach to leveraging these.
  • Maintain currency of knowledge of learning and instructional design best practice, technology and innovations.
  • Source and collaborate with external learning partners to deliver exceptional, best practice learning solutions/outcomes.
  • Develop, manage and maintain a high service level client relationship through the provision of services that meet or exceed the expectations of Defence and the DFR Adecco contract, further encouraging a strong and ongoing relationship between Adecco and the Commonwealth of Australia.

Candidate’s Profile

Your background will demonstrate:

  • Degree in Instructional Design, Education, Learning Sciences, or a related field.
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
  • Proven experience in instructional design and curriculum development.
  • Familiarity with various learning methodologies, e-learning tools, and educational technologies.
  • Demonstrated success in designing and implementing effective learning solutions.
  • Knowledge of Learning Management Systems (LMS) and content management systems.
  • Ability to create engaging and interactive learning content for diverse audiences.
  • Strong writing and editing skills to develop clear and concise instructional materials.
  • Capability to conduct needs assessments and analyse learning requirements.
  • Experience working collaboratively with subject matter experts (SMEs), educators, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • exceptional attention to detail in reviewing materials, written communication and visual design
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of assessment design and evaluation methods to measure the effectiveness of learning programs.
  • Ability to follow and work within designated brand guidelines to ensure consistency and quality of all learning materials produced.
  • Innovative mindset to create engaging and memorable learning experiences.
  • Visual design skills to enhance the aesthetic appeal of educational materials.
