This opportunity has become available due to extended leave in the team and is being offered on a fixed term contract basis through until December 2024. There is opportunity for either full time or part time work arrangements depending on the suitable candidate’s availability.The Legal and Compliance Manager will play a key leadership role in managing and evolving the Corporations legal and compliance frameworks. The role will work with the Corporations’ teams to provide legal advice, guidance and oversight to maintain, monitor and communicate policies and procedures and to evaluate the Corporations adherence to, and continuing compliance with, regulatory and policy requirements.Responsibilities
- Monitor the Corporations’ continuing compliance with all relevant State and Federal legislative, regulatory and mandatory policy requirements and provide advice and guidance regarding control systems to prevent or deal with potential or actual breaches.
- Maintain current legal and/or regulatory knowledge of compliance changes that may impact the Corporation and make recommendations to the Senior Management where existing policies and procedures may require review or development.
- Provide first point of legal advice to stakeholders and coordinate the provision of external legal advice as required.
- Provide expert legal and compliance guidance in the development and execution of contracts across the Corporation.
- Facilitate the promotion of a strong culture of compliance awareness and management across the Corporation.
- Assist in the development of the Corporation’s contract management processes, including training and assistance to staff managing contracts.
- Manage the Corporation’s legal compliance with the Liquor Licensing Act and provide guidance to the Liquor Licence Compliance Officer.
- Oversight of the Corporation’s policy frameworks including to ensure policies and procedures are reviewed and updated within designated timeframes by providing guidance and support to the Corporations subject matter experts who will be accountable for the content and management of policies and procedures.
- Manage Legal and Compliance projects as required.
- Tertiary qualifications, or equivalent in Law or similar.
- A minimum of five years’ experience in a senior legal or compliance related position.
- Previous experience in the Public Sector is highly desirable.
- A solutions & systems orientated person with an ability and desire to identify and bring about improvement and streamlining of processes, systems and record keeping.
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills with demonstrated ability to build rapport and interact effectively at all levels of an organisation.
- Highly effective verbal and written communication skills with high attention to detail.
