Opportunity for a proven in-house Legal Specialist to provide a full spectrum of legal, risk, and compliance services to business units and functions.
This will be a busy and hands-on role with a broad remit in an Engineering and Manufacturing business. You will establish yourself as a trusted advisor and provide strategic legal advice and pragmatic commercial awareness to support business decision-making. This is a stand-alone role reporting into Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary.
Key responsibilities
- Provide high-quality and timely legal advice to the business, addressing emerging legal issues impacting the group.
- Lead projects related to sustainability and the implementation of IFRS S1.
- Collaborate with external Intellectual Property law firms to apply for and maintain intellectual property registrations.
- Manage disputes in consultation with key stakeholders.
- Review and negotiate general commercial contracts, as well as manage issues arising under them.
- Manage commercial and legal risk with the group's suppliers and service providers.
- Develop and refine key company policies.
- Provide advice and training on regulatory and compliance matters.
- Support company secretarial and investor relations requirements.
- A Law degree and admission as Solicitor in Australia.
- Strong technical legal skills and interest in supporting the company on their Sustainability journey.
- Genuine interest in supporting business operations at an Australian engineering and manufacturing company expanding globally.
- Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency in delivering commercial solutions to complex legal issues.
