Mount Gibson’s flagship operation is the Koolan Island mine, located approximately 140km north of Derby in the Buccaneer Archipelago in the Kimberley. The mine is Australia’s highest-grade producer of direct-shipping grade hematite, with an average Ore Reserve grade of 65.5% Fe.

About the role:
We are now seeking to employ an experienced Logistics Officer/Operator at our Koolan Island Operation on a 14 Days On / 7 Day Off (12-hour day) roster from Perth, Broome or Derby.
Reporting directly to the Logistics Supervisor, the primary focus of this role is to work as part of a team to provide safe & efficient logistics operational support across the Koolan Island mine site. 

Key tasks and responsibilities

• Intra island transport of goods, plant and equipment.
• Ensuring all Logistics equipment is maintained in safe working order, all faults are recorded and reported.
• Prime mover operations across site.
• RORO (Roll On Roll Off) barging services including debunking diesel fuel, unloading and loading.
• Dogging, Rigging and Crane Support services across site.
• Liaising with Derby based Logistics team.
• Assisting warehouse personnel as required.

  
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

• Current Drivers licence WA C Class & MC or HC class
• Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC) or ability to obtain
• Dangerous goods by Sea Certificate (IMDG Full Accept) or ability to obtain
• Dangerous goods security card or qualify to obtain
• Licences to perform High Risk Work:
• Forklift (required)
• Dogging (required)
• Basic Rigging (preferred)
• Safe Work at Heights Competency (preferred)
• Boom type elevating work platforms (boom length 11 metres or greater) (preferred)
• Minimum of 2 years experience as a operator in a similar operation or industry
• Sound load restraint experience
• Sound heavy vehicle operational experience
• Experience completing equipment pre-starts & mechanical checks.
• Integrated Tool Carrier/Wheel loader, Telehandler experience.
• Experience with the transportation and storage of explosives according to statutory requirements.
