About the role
Destec is currently seeking a hardworking and experienced Purchasing / Procurement Officer to assist in the purchasing department based from our Canning Vale premises. Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the right candidate will have a high attention to detail, and comfortable with data entry. Based in Perth, the role will support our innovative crushing systems operating in the Pilbara.
The Purchasing / Procurement Officer will ensure that all procurement activities are undertaken in accordance with company policy and procedures. This position will also require that they work closely with the site team, end users, suppliers and stakeholders with regard to all procurement, purchasing, expediting and discrepancies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing goods and services as directed by the Procurement Manager..
- Liaise with Managers and Supervisors on goods and services required for the day-to-day operation of the business and to ensure the timely transport and receipt of materials, tools and consumables.
- Coordinate freight collection and distribution for goods related to the day-to-day operation of the business.
- Compare prices, specifications and delivery dates to determine best option among suppliers;
- Assist Accounts Payable Team in invoice processing/approval
- Monitor and co-ordinate delivery of items to ensure they are received on time.
- Ensure that orders are checked when they arrive and that they have been filled correctly and meet specifications.
- Manage receival, storage dispatching and maintaining of all company assets and equipment.
- Ensure that all purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and receivers comply with company procedures and standards Assist in maintaining company registers.
To be successful in this role you will require the following
- 5+ years experience working in a purchasing and/or procurement position
- Knowledge of Mining & Crushing industry and general consumables
- High level of computer literacy, particularly Microsoft office suite
- Experience with Netsuite is highly desirable
- Sound understanding of supply chain management & inventory management processes
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- High attention to detail
- Strong commitment to following health, safety and environment policies and procedures
- Current National Police Clearance
