Who you are

As the Manager (First Nations Engagement) at UniSQ, you'll play a pivotal role in fostering meaningful connections between our institution and First Nations communities. Your efforts will drive initiatives to attract First Nations students and facilitate partnerships that support cultural representation and educational opportunities. Reporting directly to the Pro Vice-Chancellor (First Nations Education and Research), you'll be at the forefront of promoting cultural safety, understanding, and collaboration within our diverse regions and online platforms.

What you'll do

  • Building trust and fostering relationships between UniSQ and First Nations communities.
  • Advocating for First Nations education and research opportunities across various regions and national markets.
  • Crafting culturally relevant messaging to increase First Nations student applications and acceptance rates.
  • Strengthening partnerships within the First Nations Education and Research Portfolio and across key UniSQ divisions.
  • Facilitating pathways for First Nations individuals and enterprises to access higher education.
  • Contributing positively to UniSQ's broader agenda of empowerment and self-determination for First Nations peoples.
  • Creating engaging online spaces and events to support higher education aspirations within First Nations communities.
  • Upholding the highest standards of professional conduct and commitment to personal and team development.

What will help you succeed

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline with extensive experience in engagement and outreach with First Nations communities, or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding and sensitivity to First Nations cultures and societies, with the ability to build rapport and empathy.
  • Familiarity with First Nations Australian perspectives and developments in higher education.
  • Proven leadership skills in strategic planning and implementation aligned with organisational goals.
  • Ability to identify and share best practices to support student engagement with First Nations communities.
  • Experience in developing and leading effective engagement strategies with Indigenous communities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Alignment with UniSQ's values and a valid C class driver’s license.

Salary: Total remuneration range $125,888 to $144,558 pa (includes salary range of $106,370 to $122,144 pa, employer super contributions of 17% and annual leave loading)
