We are seeking an energetic professional certified Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team and lead our Manufacturing Section. This exciting role includes the research and development of new technology, controlling heavy vehicle compliance, introducing new manufacturing methods and producing quality workshop design drawings to sustain our current semi-trailer production schedule.
Rytrans’ primary objective is to manufacture from the ground up heavy duty, user friendly and reliable livestock transport semi-trailers and Dollies that meet the needs of our meticulous customers across Australia.

Key Responsibilities in this Role:
- Responsible for the design drawings and transport engineering specifications for Rytrans’ trailers, dollies and any other manufactured components as required
- Responsible for the communication and validation of quality specifications, and amendments if required, to ensure they are captured and retained
- Responsible for the issue of all Workshop drawings and their return upon completion of the manufacturing process, including any required markups and history
- Responsible for compliance and Vin allocation through-out the manufacturing process
Reporting, performances and network
- Work as a team with the Managing Director, Production Manager, Purchasing Manager and Manufacturing Workshop Supervisor to identify key development actions to be taken with our Suppliers
- Ensure on time reporting of the relevant Supplier indicators: weekly report, monthly dashboard
- Provide regular feedback to the Managing Director, Production Manager, Purchasing Manager and Manufacturing Workshop Supervisor regarding Supplier performance, quality concerns, and delivery timelines
Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required:
- Engineering degree level or equivalent
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in quality, production management, engineering or equivalent
- Sound working knowledge of Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Solid Works 3D
- Sound understanding of manufacturing processes and production methods
- Ability to inspect products and/or materials for conformity with established operational standards
- Ability to troubleshoot to determine the cause of design related production delays
- Exercises discretion when dealing with confidential and personal matters
- An appreciation of business demands
- Autonomous, with excellent relationship skills
Performance Goals:
- Ensure design/production time frames are set and met in order to meet business targets
- Provision of weekly production reports and production updates to the Managing Director
- Ensure all contact with customers, suppliers and other stakeholders is professionally conducted at all times
- Ensure all designs and drawings produced are in a format that allows Workshop employees to read and understand them without the need for re-work and/or amendment
- Complete all associated administrative tasks in a timely manner
