Medical Administrator

SMS Healthcare is looking for a Medical Administrator to join our professional team at Southern Ophthalmology. 

This is a permanent part time role working 3-4 days per week across varied shifts between 7:30am and 5:30pm. 

The successful candidate will enjoy a challenge and is passionate about providing excellent patient care.  You will be flexible and work as part of a team and will work closely with the Practice Manager and Ophthalmologists to ensure a cohesive and efficient environment for our patients and their families. The ability to work in a fast paced environment is imperative.

This role is working across two clinics based in Kogarah and Miranda, the successful candidate must be available to work at both sites as required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Customer Service -  welcoming patients at front reception, collecting & entering patient details, answering telephone calls & enquiries, scheduling appointments, managing invoicing and receipting
• Surgical bookings
• Ad hoc administrative duties and supporting the Practice Manager with the day-to-day operations
• Medicare and Health funds billings 
• Fostering professional working relationships with team members, patients and medical staff
• Maintaining compliance with organisational policy and procedure

Experience & Attributes:

• Previous reception experience in a medical specialist practice (highly desirable)
• A sound understanding of Medicare, health funds and third parties
• Ability to work well under pressure
• Mature, diligent and a proactive attitude
• Excellent written & verbal communication skills
• Exceptional customer service skills
• Proficient computer skills
• Experience with VIP.net Practice Management software (advantageous)
• Excellent time-management skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritise
• Fluency in Mandarin and Cantonese (advantageous)
• Detail-orientated
• Initiative, ambition & ownership
• High standard of presentation
