National Account Manager – FMCG (General Merchandise)

The brand has exposure across several General Merchandise categories including Back to School, Stationery, Homewares, and Outside Dining. Our brand can be found in most leading retailers within Australia and New Zealand and is fast growing in popularity within the international market.
The Opportunity
We are currently looking for an enthusiastic person who can demonstrate a successful track record in account management at a national level, managing Woolworths, Big W and other accounts as part of their portfolio. To be successful you will need to manage a significant number of products and identify new business opportunities through strong customer relationships and sound category management skills.
The main role and responsibilities will include:
- Initiating and implementing buying plans for retailer base
- Exceeding budgeted sales and gross margin targets annually
- Utilization of Aztec data to optimize current range performance and identify new business opportunities
- Providing accurate monthly product forecasts by customer
- Submitting promotional programs that drive long term growth
- Co-ordinating and presenting range review submissions seasonally
- Managing brand positioning within each customer
- Monitoring competitor activity closely and report findings
- Working closely with the sales, marketing, design and logistics teams internally to provide exceptional customer experiences
To be successful in this role you will need to possess:
- Previous experience in a national key account management role (minimum 5 years)
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- A solid understanding of the current retail climate, customer processes and key drivers for growth
- Strong attention to detail and astute analytical skills
- Excellent negotiation and influencing skills with a strong desire to follow through
- An ability to achieve a balance between strategic customer planning and tactical business needs
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Exceptional financial acumen
