About the Role
Telethon Speech & Hearing runs impactful community-based ear health programs across WA. These programs focus on the early detection of hearing and ear health problems in children in metropolitan and rural locations we work with local communities to serve thousands of families across the region each year.
We currently have an opportunity for a unique individual(s) to undertake the role of Nurse Practitioner on a casual basis. The Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for coordinating, facilitating and delivering medical intervention and follow-up services to children identified as needing treatment for middle ear or hearing pathology.
This Nurse Practitioner works in partnership with internal and external stakeholders including members of the medical (including GPs, nurses, ENTs, AHWs, speech pathologists) and education communities (including teachers, education assistants and AEOs) and other key community members to improve the health of the children in their community.
As this role provides ongoing medical treatment and management for children and adults in areas where there is poor access to health services, the successful candidate must be able to work in a range of rural locations including fly-in/fly-out or drive-in/drive-out clinics as well as provide services in hospital and non-hospital settings.
Clinics vary from single day drive in and drive out clinics in Wheatbelt locations, to fly-in fly-out clinics of up to a week in the Pilbara.
The current dates we have available in our Wheatbelt Clinic are as follows:
- Moora; 7th- 8th May
- Merredin; 29th- 30th May
- Narrogin; 11th - 12th June
- Moora; 10th-11th September
- Merredin; 6th- 7th November
- Narrogin; 12th - 13th November
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have the following:
- Completion of Master of Nursing (Nurse Practitioner)
- Demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge, skills and practice relevant to the position
- Strong communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills to enable professional interaction with a range of people including children, parents, education employees and other medical professionals
- Current AHPRA registration as a Nurse Practitioner and professional endorsement to practice
- Eligibility to apply for a Medicare provider number, a PBS prescriber number and a HPI-I number
- Advanced Computer literacy skills.
The successful candidate will need to provide a Working with Children Check, Police Clearance and valid Drivers’ Licence.
