The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity available for an ongoing Operations Officer to join the EPA in our Operations division in Narrabri. In this role you will manage key stakeholder interactions with licensees including waste, manufacturing, heavy industry, local and state government. You will also contribute to other regulatory and compliance operations and investigations across a range of matters including waste, illegal dumping, radiation, coal seam gas and contaminated land management. You will also be involved in responding to enquiries from the general public and attending environmental incidents.

About You

Our ideal candidate will have:

• Sound understanding of the relevant policies, practices and legislative requirements that govern the EPA’s operations.
• Knowledge and experience in of one or more environment protection areas, including: air, water, noise, waste, chemicals, coal seam gas, hazardous materials, radiation & environmental planning.
• Knowledge and experience in applying current relevant environmental legislation, with demonstrated ability to interpret other environmental legislation.
• Excellent time management skills, with the ability to adapt and respond to changing organisational needs.

An inherent requirement of the role is to work out of the Narrabri Office.

About the Team

Operations is a dedicated team of environmental regulators who work to protect the environment and people from harm through the management of licensed premises and investigation of environmental incidents and complaints. If you are successful in the role, you will be working in a supportive, diverse, results driven team that works across the region on significant environmental protection matters.
