A rewarding opportunity currently exists for a Cannon Operator (Hydraulic Mining) to join our Sibanye Stillwater Australia team.
This position will be offered as a 15 days/nights on - 13-days off FIFO shift working roster, located at our Century Mine (Lawn Hill).
Purpose:
- The safe Operation of Hydraulic track mounted high-pressure water cannons via Tele-hut to re-mine tailings material.
- Ensure that all your activities at Lawn Hill are conducted in line with industry best practice, the Queensland Mining & Quarrying Safety and Health Act 1999, as well as the Regulations 2001, and the Workplace Health and Safety Act.
- Contribute to the healthy workplace culture, having a Duty of care for your own safety and that of your colleagues
- Working as part of the team, to respond, and react to situations not directly related to gun operations where your support is required.
Key accountabilities will include:
Hydraulic Mining Production
- Ensure all Hydraulic mining operations at Century Mine are carried out and maintained safely
- Plan daily production tasks with Shift Supervisor to ensure continuous planned production
- Complete workplace inspections
- Assist in training of personnel in the operation of High-pressure Water Cannons
- Ensure production targets are achieved as per mining plan efficiently and safely
- Continuous focus on improvement of Mining practice, efficiency and safe operation
- Ensure all defects/hazards are reported in a timely matter
Ideally, applicants will possess the following:
Skills:
- Demonstrated personal drive and the highest levels of integrity
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated conflict resolution skills, including the ability to keep calm in difficult and stressful situations
- Ability to use information and communication technology systems
- Ability to apply independent thinking and common sense in decision making
Knowledge:
- Mining production
- Mining based safety systems
- Ground awareness training
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in operational/maintenance roles; or
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in mining
- Process plant exposure highly regarded
Education, Qualifications, Tickets, Licences:
- Cert III in Surface extraction is desirable
- Current C Class Driver license
- Front end Loader ticket
- Skid steer Loader ticket
- Telehandler
