This role is based at our Dandenong head office and is responsible for overseeing the end to end payroll function of our multi-site organisation. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, you will provide ongoing leadership, mentorship and coaching to our high performing payroll team.
With a focus on timely and accurate processing of payroll, adding value to the business through continuous improvement and providing exception service to our internal and external stakeholders you will:
- Oversee the running of a weekly payroll across multiple sites.
- Review and audit payrolls to ensure accuracy as well as legislative and Enterprise Agreement compliance including tax and superannuation.
- Ensure on time and accurate completion of month end tasks and reporting.
- Deal with escalated and more complex payroll related queries and issues.
- Provide relevant technical advice to our stakeholders on MicroPay and Connx ESS.
- Liaise with Executive team and relevant department managers to identify areas of improvement relating to systems and processes.
- Implement strategy to lead the team to achieve desired outcomes within set timeframes.

You are an experienced and hands-on Payroll Manager with strong relationship building and consultative skills, with a natural ability to lead and mentor an established small team of Payroll Officers. You have exceptional time management and outstanding ability to recognise and understand business priorities and plan accordingly.
You will thrive in a busy environment, bringing your knowledge and leadership abilities to ensure smooth weekly payroll function and contribute towards continuous improvements across the business.
What will ensure your ongoing success in this role?
- Solid experience with payroll software including MicrOpay.
- Proven experience in leadership positions within a high volume and multi-site payroll environment.
- Strong excel and reporting abilities.
- Ability to interpret and apply Enterprise Bargaining Agreements and Modern Awards
- Maintaining up to date knowledge of payroll and compliance legislation and changes.
- Ability to work to strict timelines in a high pressure environment.
