This is a newly created role, established to support and enhance organisation outcomes and growth. As Payroll Manager at Gateways you will:
- Oversee timely and accurate processing of payroll, including statutory and reporting requirements for approximately 800 staff.
- Implement exception reporting and audit schedules to proactively identify and rectify errors
- Continuously evaluate and streamline payroll processes for increased efficiency and accuracy
- Serve as the key subject matter expert and escalation point for issue resolution
- Manage and coach a high-performing payroll team
- Ensure timely and accurate data management across various systems (e.g., Carelink, Chris21, HR21)
- Supervise payroll changes (e.g., new hires, terminations, pay increases) and system upgrades
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, state, and national statutory requirements, wage and hour laws, and tax regulations
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to handle payroll inquiries and facilitate seamless data flow between departments, particularly with the People & Culture and Finance teams.

Do you possess the following qualifications and skills?
- More than 5+ years demonstrated experience in a Payroll Manager or similar role, working within a fast-paced business environment.
- Excellent understanding of payroll legislative requirements (awards, Payroll tax, Superannuation, PAYG and Workers Compensation).
- Demonstrated knowledge of payroll software, Chris21 experience would be highly regarded
- Effective written and verbal communication and documentation abilities – be able to convey ideas/facts professionally and articulately through different means and adapt to ensure clarity to communicate to a diverse audience.
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain one)
- NDIS Workers Orientation Module certificate of completion
- Valid Australian Driver's License
- Victorian Working with Children Check (employee status)
