We currently have an opportunity for a People & Culture Business Partner to join our team. You will be supporting and contributing to the success of Social Infrastructure, not only with cyclical People & Culture events, but specifically in a very important long-term construction project for our Australian Defence client. This position is located in Wodonga VIC are, but candidates in Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne willing to travel, will be considered.
This role is specifically aligned to the full employee lifecycle of the Downer contribution to the highly-visible Riverina Defence Infrastructure Project, being delivered through a Joint-Venture construction partner.
What you'll do
The role has a broad remit, with key responsibilities outlined below:
- Work, as the first priority, on all proactive and reactive employee lifecycle requirements for the Defence Infrastructure Project, including but not limited to workforce planning, collaborating with the dedicated Recruitment team on talent mapping and resource planning, aligning remuneration and reward, engagement initiatives and supporting project management on active people management actions.
- Collaborate closely with other P&C teams to deliver on people programs either within a defined area of Social Infrastructure or geographic region, as demand dictates.
- Work closely with P&C Delivery Partners, JV partners, functional HR teams and other teams to gather project requirements, align objectives and coordinate project activities.
- Undertake People & Culture project work in support of business strategies and plans.
- Support the execution of cyclical events such as performance, remuneration and talent cycles.
- Lead and manage People & Culture projects from initiation to completion, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budget and quality standards.
- HR generalist experience - preference for experience in the building and construction sector, or equivalent.
- Delivery of HR projects and annual cycle events experience (e.g. performance, remuneration, talent)
- Strong knowledge of HR principles, practices & regulations.
- Knowledge of Fair Work Act, relevant awards, enterprise agreements and other employment legislation.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and generate meaningful insights.
- Intermediate ability with Microsoft Office Suite, document preparation and HRIS/payroll, Learning Management and Recruitment Software.
- Tertiary Qualification in HR, Business Management, or a related discipline (desirable)
