Job description

ABOUT US

Strive Community Care is an established social purpose organisation that actively supports the vulnerable children and families within our community through quality, person-centred services (OOHC and NDIS). We believe that everyone deserves equal opportunities in life, especially those people that have experienced disadvantage and trauma. Healing and growing is a process that is possible with the right support. For more information, please visit our website: www.strivecommunitycare.com.au

ABOUT THE ROLE

Strive Community Care provides therapeutic home environments for children and young people with histories of complex trauma, abuse and neglect. We utilise a strong Therapeutic Framework and unique CREATE Model of Care with a focus on establishing holistic safety. Children and young people are provided with a sense of family, support to heal, opportunity to positively connect with others, and rebuild their lives.

We are now seeking a People & Culture Manager to play a key senior management role in supporting children and young persons in their healing journey by providing care in therapeutic homes (Residential OOHC and WeStrive Mentoring Program) and the NDIS. The position is a permanent, full-time role working out of our Seventeen Mile Rocks Office.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will deliver all aspects of People & Culture to ensure the efficient management of the workforce and will lead initiatives aimed at enhancing employee engagement, performance, and organisational culture.  Be part of a team dedicated to excellence, innovation, and social responsibility.

Duties of the successful applicant include:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement People & Culture strategies that drive organisational growth and sustainability, positioning Strive Community Care as an employer of choice.
  • Talent Management: Lead recruitment efforts to attract top-tier talent, oversee the seamless onboarding process, and manage performance evaluations to maximise employee potential.
  • Culture Champion: Cultivate a positive and inclusive work environment by championing diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, fostering a sense of belonging among all team members.
  • Data-Driven Decision-Making: Utilise people and culture metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of programs and initiatives, making data-driven decisions that continuously enhance their people and culture practices.
  • Compliance and Best Practices: Stay informed about industry trends, ensure staffing-related compliance with regard to legislation in a care setting, and best practices to encourage safety and mitigate risks effectively.
  • Safety & Wellbeing: Driving WHS requirements and promoting the organisation's wellbeing focus (safety planning, EAP service, monthly supervision, appropriate rostering, post-incident support, etc).

A more detailed Position Description can be provided upon application.

ABOUT YOU

The successful applicant will require the following Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education and Experience: A bachelor’s degree in human resources management, business administration, or a related field is preferred, as is a minimum of five years of experience in people and culture management, preferably in the community services sector (ideally in OOHC or NDIS).
  • Expertise: Strong understanding of employment laws, regulations, and best practices, coupled with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead and motivate teams, with a knack for problem-solving and decision-making in fast-paced environments.
  • Certifications: HR certification (e.g., PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP) is preferred, showcasing your commitment to professional excellence.
  • Licenses and Probity Checks: Hold or willing to attain a valid Blue Card (QLD WWCC), Yellow Card (QLD DWS), and Current National Police Check (within the last 12 months). Hold a current unrestricted QLD drivers licence (or equivalent)
