Due to an internal transfer, and as we continue to focus on delivering vibrant and engaging guest experiences, as well as maintaining the highest standard of animal welfare and training, we have an opportunity for an experienced and engaging Presentations & Animal Training Manager. In this highly varied role, you will be responsible for the leadership of the CWS Presentations Team and the management of Animal Training, animal welfare, animal husbandry & health, exhibit maintenance as well as maintain and develop Show Productions across the Property.

About the Role

Reporting to the Wildlife Manager, our industry experienced Presentations & Animal Training Manager will manage the development, production and delivery of department Presentations and shows across CWS ensuring they engage our visitors with the Vision and Mission of NTAQ. As part of this dynamic role, you will be a confident public speaker and often perform in our Shows, as well as assist our Marketing and Events Team with media requests, events, famils or VIP tours.

As a proactive and knowledgeable animal handler and trainer, our Presentations & Animal Training Manager will manage collection animals, including show training, husbandry training and foundation training, to support our guest experiences and guest interactions. In this hands-on role you will oversee various husbandry duties including managing diets, husbandry standards, capture and restraint techniques, maintenance of accurate animal records and liaising with the CWS veterinary team for animal health management.

As a value-driven leader, will responsibly manage the husbandry and Animal welfare of all Presentation collection animals utilising best practice and Industry Standard conditioning techniques, to maximise animal health and Animal welfare and support safe work practices.

As an effective leader, will effectively manage the daily operations of the Presentations department and maintain policies and procedures for team member and Animal management and train department team members to work with all fauna in the collection.

As Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is a NFP and is focused on our Mission of Conservation – we are seeking a truly passionate animal welfare advocate who balances this understanding with the visitor experience. About You

To be successful in this role, you will experience in a similar role within the commercial zoo industry, and

experience in Animal Training in all methods of conditioning as well as the ability to perform entertaining, informative and engaging public presentations. Further to this experience we are also looking for the following knowledge and skills:

  • Must hold qualification in Certificate 3 in Captive Animal Management or relevant industry qualifications.
  • Production experience to develop animal-based presentations for public interaction and demonstrations is required.
  • Industry recognised knowledge and understanding of ZAA.
  • High level communication, liaison, negotiation and staff training skills are essential
  • High standard of personal presentation. Required to act as a role model for team members.
  • Experience working with animals including venomous snakes, crocodiles and eagles would be an advantage.
  • Good people management skills, including developing the potential of a talented and passionate team, coaching and mentoring.
  • Manual Driver’s licence required
  • This role may be subject to a Medical & Background Checks.
