- ensuring the Operation's' Energy needs strategically match with South32's business plan;
- Developing and setting procurement strategies based on market conditions and operational factors. This includes analysis of opportunities to optimise spend and energy-mix across the category whilst minimising supply risk, incorporating into overall portfolio driven category (mid to long-term) and sourcing strategies;
- Takes responsibility for end-to end contract negotiation and contractor management including tracking & monitoring of performance targets;
- Commercial ownership of energy contracts including (but not limited to) gas, gas transport, electricity etc. entered into for the Australian operations;
- Ensuring business continuity and optimal commercial outcomes, by understanding and communicating:
- The energy markets across the Australia operations in the category (dependent on location)
- Key contractual terms of contracts and commercial levers
- Legislative requirements of the surrounding energy markets and business impact (e.g. Carbon tax)
- Monitors expectations, understanding and application of Supply Category Management processes within the wider South32 functions and providing commercial energy support where required.
- Several years' experience in commercial/ Supply environment with a background in Energy and/or Carbon Sourcing / Markets is preferred
- Experience in developing commercial strategies and leading strategic negotiations, financial modelling skills, strong understanding of energy and carbon markets, stakeholder influence
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree in business, Commerce, Finance, Engineering or related disciplines
