AddressMEC Mining is seeking a skilled Principal Mining Engineer to lead a broad and diverse range of site and technical projects/studies. As a key contributor within the senior leadership team, you will be influential in strengthening our technical capabilities as well as driving the future growth of MEC as an organisation.

Location & Work Pattern
The position is primarily Brisbane-based, with some opportunities for domestic and international travel. MEC is supportive of flexible work arrangements, in line with the needs of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Concept, Feasibility, Life of Mine and Due Diligence studies
- Complete technical components of a broad range of studies
- Project management and delivery of projects
- Conduct peer reviews and complete technical report writing
- Ongoing client relationship management
- Develop and mentor other MEC engineers.
- Develop and present internal/external technical training
- Help grow and expand MEC’s technical capabilities
- Help develop strategy for future business to maximise growth
As the ideal candidate for the role, you have a strong technical foundation in Mining Engineering, with a broad knowledge base and skill set. You possess the aptitude and resilience to develop and effectively communicate solutions to complex problems. You form and maintain connections and can translate these into tangible leads. In addition to this, you promote the growth of fellow team members and inspire them to consistently deliver high-quality work.
Technical:
- Demonstrated capability in a variety of Mining Engineering roles
- Experience in a variety of open pit &/or underground mining operations
- Comprehensive knowledge of a range of mining methods, deposit types, and commodities
- Technical experience across a variety of technical areas, such as mine design, source and destination scheduling, pit optimisation, financial modelling, mine studies and technical report writing
- Proficiency in Mining Engineering CAD and scheduling software such as Deswik, Vulcan, Spry, Alastri
- Solid experience in the areas of project management of technical studies
- Experience in Mineral Reserve estimation and auditing
- Working knowledge of mine services capital and operating cost estimation
- Experience in due diligence and project reviews
