This is a state-wide pool recruitment process for various opportunities across the Department’s prison estates in Western Australia
We currently have two (2) vacancies available to fill immediately at Bandyup Women's Prison and Bunbury Regional Prison
ABOUT THE ROLE
Prison Support Officer (PSO) contribute to the overall suicide and self-harm prevention and intervention strategy in custodial settings by providing ongoing support and cultural expertise to prisoners at risk.
The PSO provides support to the individual prisoners who are seeking/have been referred for assistance, keeping in line with the Department’s overall suicide and self-harm intervention and prevention strategy.
The PSO is also responsible for the management and performance of the Peer Support program, which is a well-established suicide prevention strategy, aimed at the early identification and support of prisoners at risk.

Pool Recruitment
This pool will be open for a period of 12 months from the day after the breach of standard claim period closes. Permanent, fixed term, full time and part time appointments may be offered as vacancies arise; however an appointment is not guaranteed.
The Department of Justice uses recruitment pools to build a bank of talent for future opportunities. Applicants found suitable in this pool, may be considered for subsequent, similar vacancies at similar locations, with the Department of Justice for the duration of the pool.
