Position Summary
The Procurement Officer is responsible for undertaking and maintaining procurement functions
and supplier relationships in the acquisition of inventory and non-inventory items in accordance
with relevant legislation, Incat policies, organisational directives, and work instructions.
This position will be required to deliver high quality customer service, build strong internal and
external working relationships, and ensure efficient and productive procurement practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage market engagements to procure vessel and shipyard inventory and non-inventory items as per the
relevant procurement policies and guidelines - Assist with the development and implementation of new procurement processes and
procedures ensuring compliance with relevant business and industry standards - Be accountable for the control of procurement product groups and the implementation of
effective supplier management strategies - Undertake day-to-day procurement activities to ensure they meet production, customer and stakeholder
expectations - Develop, implement and manage supplier performance obligations relative to each major
procurement agreement and report outcomes to the Senior Procurement Officer as required - Identify, deliver and report on opportunities to increase efficiency and effectiveness and
minimise costs
Essential Skills and Attributes
- High quality communication skills, including the ability to relate with people at all levels
- Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to develop strong and productive
working relationships with a broad range of stakeholders - Well-developed writing skills, with the ability to tailor content to a range of audiences
- Strong analytical, business acumen and reporting skills
- Proven ability to take a shared responsibility for setting priorities, organising workloads and
meeting prescribed and self-determined deadlines in a team environment
Qualifications and Experience
- Formal qualification in procurement
- Five years of demonstrated experience in a similar procurement role
- Experience in marine/shipbuilding procurement is highly desirable
