Hays Recruitment is proud to work with an established organisation that provides design and construction services for maritime vessels. We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Procurement Team Lead to join their Procurement team based in Cairns, QLD. This is a permanent, full-time position that is ready to start immediately.
Your new role
The Procurement Team Lead will lead the Procurement Team and work with direct reports to coordinate smooth and effective procurement operations. The Procurement Team Lead also ensures the ongoing enhancement and achievement of the Supply Chain Process for the best possible assistance of procurement activities to the business.
The main objectives & responsibilities for the role are:
- Leading a team of Procurement specialists who execute the Supply Chain Process
- Implementing the Supply Chain Process successfully
- Improving the Supply Chain Process continuously
- Assisting Senior Procurement Specialist with high impact and business critical purchases
- Helping teams with the negotiation of major and long term contracts, ensuring optimal cost and dependable supply
- Providing suitable procurement representation and reports on all projects
- Ensuring prompt and precise up-to-date reporting from the team
- Handling all critical business purchases of goods and services for a positive outcome
- Tracking and identifying high risk product/service categories
- Ensuring procurement activities are within agreed budgets and timeframes.
What you'll need to succeed
We're looking for a talented and passionate individual committed to delivering quality service.
Required skills, experience, and attributes include:
- Tertiary qualifications in Procurement, Supply Chain, Contractual Law, or relevant field
- Experience with procurement functions in an ERP environment
- Strong analytical skills to develop sustainable procurement strategies
- Excellent influencing, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
- CIPS qualifications
- Attention to detail, ownership of tasks, and a commitment to high-quality work
- Experience in Defence, Maritime/Shipbuilding, or equivalent industries
- Australian Citizenship is mandatory for this role.
