The Tasmanian Bike Collective is looking for a Program Manager who can work with young people and bikes!
Our vision is to create a better future for young people through bikes.
We do this by mentoring, upskilling and empowering young people who are struggling at home or school by creating safe places to grow in character and skills for life.
Youth Services, Community Services and Development
- Working in purpose driven, community-based organisation
- Part Time Fixed Term until 30 June 2027 with possible contract extension after this period
- 3-month trial
- 0.6 to 0.8 FTE depending on the candidate
- Role is based in Huonville and preference given to people living in the Huon Valley.
- To begin straight away or as soon as possible.
About the Role
We are seeking a Program Manager to become part of the Bike Collective team.
The Program Manager will be responsible for managing our Bike Collective workshop in the Huonville area which is designed to be an inclusive space for young people to connect through working on bikes while learning important work skills and improving their wellbeing.
This includes supporting young people to overcome barriers that may hinder their engagement with learning.
Key Focus of the Role
- Recruit and engage local young people in the program.
- Increase work readiness, social connectedness and well-being of young people through program processes and logic.
- Develop and engage with partners, networks and the community to grow and sustain the program.
- Support the recruitment, onboarding and development of volunteers.
- Support fundraising and resourcing initiatives for the program.
About you
- The ideal person for this role will be energetic and resilient, have a positive attitude, work from a strengths-based framework, and genuinely enjoy spending time with young people.
- You will be driven to work alongside young people to make a significant difference in their lives and reach their goals.
- You will have experience and confidence in delivering a program.
- Basic knowledge/experience working with bikes, and bike maintenance or the ability to pick this up quickly.
- A commitment to best practice.
- Most importantly... a positive attitude.
Essential Qualifications / Experience:
- Specialised knowledge and experience working with young people with complex behavioural needs and/or trauma
- A current driver’s license
- A current First Aid Certificate (or the ability to obtain it)
- Ability to work within the TasBC culture and its founding Christian values
- A current Police Check and Working with Vulnerable People card (or ability to obtain one)
- A current certificate of Child Safe/Mandatory Reporting qualification (or ability to obtain one)
Desirable Qualifications / Experience:
1. Bachelor of Social Work, Education or similar qualification
OR
Diploma in Youth Work, Community Services or similar qualification
2. Knowledge of services and supports available to young people in Tasmania
3. Basic working knowledge of bike mechanics and restoration
