Exciting role for a Co-ordinator who wants to contribute to the success of the EPA.
VPS 4 salary: $92,332 to $104,762 + 11% superannuation.
Fixed Term, Full-Time 1.0 FTE (until 29 September 2024). End of March 2024 Start Date.

Located at 200 Victoria Street, Carlton.

About the Role:
Reporting to the Team Leader, Major Project Advisory, the Project Coordinator is a member of a team responsible for the facilitation of major projects and infrastructure developments. You will support engagement with proponents and provision of advice to achieve optimal outcomes aligned to EPA’s strategic priorities to prevent harm to Victorian communities and the environment from pollution and waste.
This is an exciting role for a co-ordinator that wants to contribute to the success of the EPA as it enters a new era of environmental protection in Victoria. Working under broad direction from the Team Leader, Major Projects Advisory, you will actively contribute to a positive organisational culture and achieve the highest standards of performance and integrity; and fostering genuine partnerships across all levels of government, industry, and community to deliver organisational outcomes.
In this role you will:
Work under the direction of the Team Leader, Major Project Advisory, support the facilitation of designated major infrastructure projects ensuring proponents understand and comply regulatory obligations and requirements to prevent harm to communities and the environment from pollution and waste.
Actively contribute to the development of a positive and high performing team culture, including by identifying and implementing opportunities to improve teamwork practices.
Provide authoritative and timely advice on the environmental protection framework.
Support the delivery of EPA’s role in Environmental Effects Statement processes under the under the Environmental Effects Act 1978, engaging with Science Division and Operations Division.
Develop strategic relationships with State and Federal Government departments and agencies involved in major infrastructure development to provide insight to the project pipeline to enable more efficient and effective servicing by EPA.
Support the delivery of complex projects that require dedicated project management resources to assess and resolve environmental and human health risks.
Support EPA’s strategic and statutory planning functions.
Undertake administrative processes and other tasks as directed for the effective achievement of regulatory outcomes; ensure that all Government and EPA policies and procedures, such and financial management, occupational health and safety, and conduct are complied with.
Represent the EPA positively in engaging with the community and duty holders to build knowledge and awareness of the laws that protect our environment and human health from pollution and waste, and the role of EPA as Victoria’s independent environmental regulator.
Take a problem-solving approach to work, utilising new powers and tools in the Environment Protection Act 2017 with a commitment to continuous improvement, ensuring a one-EPA approach to delivering priority outcomes for the organisation.
Skills and experience
A relevant tertiary degree and/or post graduate qualifications is desirable.
Experience in a development advisory function, preferably within Government.
Knowledge of the Environment Protection Act 2017, Environmental Effects Act 1978, and Mineral Resources (Sustainable Development) Act 1990.
Expertise in project management and project co-ordination of complex infrastructure projects.
Ability to apply relevant government legislation, regulations, reporting directives and procedures, to achieve optimal organisational outcomes.
A broad understanding of environmental regulation as it relates to pollution and waste is desirable.
Management skills and demonstrated capability to plan, monitor and deliver services and support consistent with organisational priorities, including risk identification and management, budget development and management; optimise the allocation and use of resources; and evaluate project / program effectiveness.
A proven record of achievement in a similar role which contributes to organisational excellence, high standards of performance and a positive organisational culture.
Demonstrated focus on accountability for the execution and quality of results through professionalism, persistence, and transparency.
Proven ability to work as an effective member of a cohesive team, with a demonstrated commitment to the successful delivery of the highest organisational priorities; proven capability to build and sustain enduring relationships to enable the collaborative delivery of outcomes and achievement of goals and targets.
Ability to think outside the square, a willingness to try new things and a genuine desire to learn, share knowledge and make a difference.
