The Position
We are currently looking to expand our Civil department by introducing an additional Project Manager role, to support the growth of the business. Senior Project Engineers are strongly encouraged to apply.
This will be a full-time role, Monday to Friday with Head Office location of Bayswater North. Hours are flexible, but you must be available to speak with Supervisors, Foreman and Contractors at any time works are underway.
Key accountabilities:
- Proactively participate in tender handover meetings
- Review new approved projects in line with principles used in tender/quote and ensure all programs are designed in line with revenue, costs and profit margins expected in safe and effective operational manner.
- Lead, manage and co-ordinate the project including allocate, schedule and secure resources and material for project (subcontractors and internal crews).
- Planning and prepping prior to project commencement including all pre-steps to be done, ensure all carried out prior to project commencement.
- Review stages of project regularly and monitor stages communicating regularly with Supervisor and Subcontractor(s)
- Ensure all projects have allocated project/job code and all costs associated with it are allocated to correct code.
- Approve all costs associated with the project (resources, internal and sub-contractor plus materials);
- Ensure all variations are recorded including re-quoted and planned as a new project.
- Provide specialist advice and guidance to team members who undertake aspects of the project delivery.
- Audit the projects for both client satisfaction, project deliverables and quality and safety.
- Determine project specifications and acquire the necessary materials for completion as early as possible
- Assess flaws in designs and come up with quick and practical solutions to problems and maximize all opportunities to increase profits.
- Identify project responsibilities, delegating phases and elements to the appropriate personnel.
- Manage compliance, quality control, and quality assurance standards and specifications ensuring all Civil Projects have ITP’s
- Creating frameworks to measure the project's metrics and data collection always ensuring the business systems used are accurately maintained for open communication and accessibility of live data.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with all clients, meet on site when needed, provide answers and respond effectively and promptly covering all areas.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, subcontractors and suppliers by working as a team in a proactive manner, by identifying root cause issues and providing solutions to them.
- Communicate and support Supervisor for effective cost control measures for both front and backend support.
Core competencies & requirements:
- 5+ years experience in Civil Road projects of a similar nature
- 2+ years experience working with multiple projects simultaneously
- 1+ year experience in sub-contractor management
- Valid Victorian Drivers Licence
- Red/White Construction Card
- Intermediate to advanced excel skills (for Project Management and Costing)
- Proven analytical and strategic mindset
- Extensive collaboration and communication skills
- Experience working with both internal crews, and sub-contractors is highly regarded
