Hays has partnered with a state government department to appoint an experienced Project Manager to the initial stages of a state-wide critical communications uplift. Taking on a leadership role, with this program forecasted to last until mid-2028, this is an exciting piece of work that you won't want to miss!
Your new role
As the Project Manager, you will identify, lead and coordinate the project management activities required to support the choice of investment, infield service testing, and planning for roll out the selected technology across 5 government agencies. Your day-to-day will include:
- Project scoping and developing project plans, ensuring a best-practice project and resource-planning approach
- Actively participating in risk and issue assessment and mitigation activities, as well as reporting on project components including schedules, interdependencies, plan development etc.
- Initiating and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, communicating/negotiating/managing issues to ensure continued engagement
What you'll need to succeed
You will be an experienced Project Manager, with demonstrated experience leading project management activities in the development of business cases. Government experience is preferable, but really this position needs a strong PM who is capable of liaising between the different agencies investigating technological solutions to improve their operational communications. You will be experienced working collaboratively, within your own team and cross-agency, as well as possess a strong understanding of project governance, procurement, and assurance requirements.
What you'll get in return
You'll be offered an initial contract through to 30/11/24 to drive putting together the business case for this program of work. With this body of work due to conclude in mid-2028, there is a very strong chance your assignment will be extended. You'll also be remunerated at an attractive hourly rate up to $141.79/hour including superannuation.
