Duties Required
- Deliver an outcomes-focused culture where leaders and staff take personal accountability for delivering on Council's vision and policy.
- Ensure that the Environmental Services Section deliver on co-design of services with the community, a whole-of-council approach to integrating service delivery, and an innovative view of Council's long-term opportunities.
- Responsible for investigating local city solutions relevant to sustainable practices and activations such as advancing and linking environmental data collection, sensor development and youth employment.
- Provide basic project and research support to the Sustainability Team working closely with Environmental Operations and Systems in order to better understand and implement integrated Environmental Systems, Sustainable Solutions in a Solar City framework including; coastal zone, urban waterways/water quality, energy, climate adaptation and resilience in Council and community.
- Degree qualifications or significant progress towards obtaining a degree in sustainability, environmental policy/planning/science, natural resources management or other sustainability related discipline. Relevant work experience in these fields would also be highly regarded.
- Ability to participate in team based projects contributing to project management.
- Exercise skill, tact, and diplomacy in being a member of a workplace team dealing with complex environment & sustainability.
- Demonstrated skills in personal and team level administration and capacity to set work goals for self and ability to plan, and implement activities to meet commitments and deadlines.
- Ability in preparing reports, policies, submissions and funding applications
