The Role
We are seeking a high performing, motivated and enthusiastic APS 4 Waterfront Project Support Officer to join the Pacific Patrol Boat Systems Program Office (PPBSPO). This technical administration and Project Support focused position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a team of experts across a unique work force consisting of Australian Public Servants, members of the Australian Defence Force and Pacific Island Nation stakeholders. The role requires that you have the ability to multitask in a highly dynamic environment, demonstrate attention to detail, a positive attitude and the ability to succeed in a close-knit team environment. You will be contributing to providing sustainment services to the Pacific Maritime Security Program focusing on the Guardian Class Patrol Boats (GCPB), Pacific Patrol Boats (PPB) and Small Landing Craft (SLC) External Maintenance Periods and defect rectification as required.
You will have opportunity to showcase your skills in supporting maritime maintenance projects, records management, asset management, data entry, process development and simple procurement. Your strong administrative knowledge, excellent communication skills and amazing interpersonal skills will be the keys to your success in this role. You will be required to demonstrate a commitment to customer service and an agile approach to service delivery in an environment where priorities can change very rapidly. The PPBSPO are a tight knit team who enjoy a supportive and positive work culture. You will be working in a small team environment, providing all Project Support and administrative requirements for a busy team of functional and operational subject matter experts.
About our Team
Since the 1960s, Australia has undertaken a range of capacity-building and engagement activities in the South Pacific and Southeast Asia under the Defence Cooperation Program. The centre-piece of Australia's Defence engagement in the South Pacific is the Pacific Patrol Boat (PPB) Program, which involved the gifting of 22 Pacific Class Patrol Boats between 1987 - 1997 and the current PPB replacement program, which will provide 22 new Guardian Class Patrol Boats to participating Pacific Island Countries.
Recognising that the boats are sovereign assets of the participating nations, Australia is committed to providing a range of engineering, technical and logistics support services to ensure the ongoing operational capability of the Pacific Patrol Boat fleet, which is provisioned through the Pacific Patrol Boat Systems Program Office. Your role in the delivery of Business Management services provides a vital input to maintaining capability for Pacific Island Countries.
Our Ideal Candidate
As Waterfront Project Support Officer within the PPBSPO, you will work in a dynamic and diverse environment requiring a number of key competencies:
- Extensive administration and Project Support experience, preferably in a similar operating environment.
- Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook and Excel.
- Demonstrated agility in responding to stakeholders requirements.
- Experienced in the use of scheduling and asset management programs.
- Procurement experience.
- The ability to effectively prioritise workloads based on organisational requirements.
- Highly effective communication and stakeholder engagement.
- Efficient, dedicated and accountable for the quality of your work.
- Have a strong desire to contribute to overall success of the team and possess a “can-do attitude.”
