The role:
The Property Accountant is responsible for day-to-day accounting, budgeting, forecasting for a portfolio of shopping centres and managing key stakeholder relationships both internally and externally including shopping centres management teams, finance team, development team, investment management, leasing and capital transaction team.
The responsibilities:
- Preparing monthly reporting packs which includes balance sheet reconciliation, profit and loss analysis and variance commentaries.
- Preparation of month end accruals, journals, prepayments, adjustments, income and expenses analysis.
- Full accountability for profit and loss
- Maintain Outgoings, Percentage Rent and Extended Trade models.
- Cash flow statement preparation
- Monthly Property and Portfolio Reports.
- Responsible for the preparation of variance analysis, commentary on performance and key performance indicators.
- Provide the Corporate Accountant with BAS from the property management system (MRI).
- Work with Centre Managers and leasing team to complete annual budgets and forecasts including uploading leasing assumptions, reviews, analysis and checks.
- Assist in the preparation of Property & Portfolio Reforecast
- Upload the budgets in the property management system (MRI).
- Preparation of annual outgoings estimates.
- Review annual tax statement for all trusts BAS preparation and lodgement
- Review tax calculations and tax returns
- Have either completed or be studying towards CA/CPA or equivalent.
Experience - 1-2 years’ experience in property sector is required. Retail property accounting experience will be highly regarded.
- Recent experience using MRI or other similar property management systems.
- Advanced excel skills and financial modelling skills are essential.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail and accuracy.
