The Company Since 1989 this family company has been successfully servicing the rural retail & horticultural; professional pest control and export markets. Australian owned, they are suppliers and wholesalers of a diverse range of high-quality generic herbicide, insect, rodent and termite control products, typically in smaller pack sizes. Their focus is on the design, manufacture, R&D and distribution of innovative and environmentally responsible control agents (physical, chemical and biological).
Known for their quality and value for money products; flexible solutions and prompt despatch times, they have the infrastructure and distribution networks to provide a focused and quick response to market requirements.
The Role
Due to growth of the business, a new role, Purchasing Officer , has been created. Reporting jointly to the MD and GM you will be working closely with them to understand current, and influence future purchasing processes and procedures.
This is a key role in the business where you will be responsible for:
- coordinating the ordering of packaging, ingredients and labels, across a wide range of products
- procurement of raw materials and finished products both locally and overseas
- stock management
- negotiation with suppliers
- managing Quality Assurance aspects
- adopting safe work practices and compliance with WHS requirements
To be successful in this role you will ideally have:
- some experience in the purchasing of raw materials, packaging and finished goods
- some training certificate in procurement through a TAFE or similar organisation
- maths and writing ability for counting and recording stock
- an appreciation for and understanding that this is working in an environment around agricultural chemicals
This role involves manual, repetitive work. You will need to be patient, and willing to work closely with the leadership team to learn their largely manual ordering system which works very well (Note they are not using SAP).
