About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Operations Quality Manager, the Quality Control Technical Officer is responsible for developing applicable Inspection and Test Plans (ITP’s) for production work which allocates the appropriate Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) that forms the basis for Collins Class Submarine (CCSM) certification. In addition, audit work packs and OQE upon completion to ensure compliance in accordance with Engineering, Quality and SUBSAFE corporate policies.
Quality Control Technical Officers are also required to perform 2nd party witnessing on non-SUBSAFE production tasks to ensure correct system line-up and accuracy of critical items in line with Engineering documentation.
Responsibilities
- Development of applicable Inspection and Test Plans (ITP’s) for production work which allocates the appropriate Objective Quality Evidence (OQE).
- Conduct 2nd party witnessing of non-SUBSAFE production tasks, including compartment closures, static and dynamic pressure testing and installation of various mechanical items.
- Carry out NACE paint inspections.
- Audit review of all completed work packs and OQE to support CCSM certification.
- Liaising with internal functional departments such as Engineering, Planning, SCG, Production and Materials.
- As designated Activity Lead, manage allocated resources based on work load priorities in support of project milestones.
- Provide coaching and feedback to Production personnel on work pack and OQE deficiencies to drive a learning and update culture.
About you
To be considered for this permanent full-time opportunity it is imperative that you display expertise across the following key areas:
- Previous experience in defence engineering or similar, ideally within the Submarine maintenance or ship building community.
- A demonstrated experience in reviewing, determining and advising on the correct quality requirements pertaining to maintenance standards, work instructions and technical drawings required to develop consistently accurate ITP’s.
- Demonstrated experience in auditing technical documentation and Objective Quality Evidence.
- Ability to work in Confined Spaces.
- Demonstrated ability to assist in problem resolution.
- Ideally demonstrate an understanding of Collins Class systems, SUBSAFE policies, corporate quality processes, maintenance routines and standards.
- Demonstrated experience in reading and understanding engineering work instructions and technical drawings.
- Ability to obtain Australian Defence Security Clearance (NV 1).
Eligibility
This role requires a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance and an ability to access protected US defence technology. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearances and approvals.
