About the role

We are currently seeking a Rail Plant Manager to join Select Plant Australia in Sydney or Melbourne. This permanent role offers great career prospects with one of the largest specialist plant hire businesses in Australia.

This role will have overall responsibility for the rail fleet from a procurement, maintenance, disposal, compliance, and regulatory perspective. Responsible for providing guidance and mentoring to the stations team to ensure compliance with Rail Management system and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

  • Consultation with project leads and other key stakeholders to ensure our Rail Plant meets the required standards for the railway operations to be undertaken.
  • Establishing maintenance schedules and budgets for our rail assets and ensuring records are retained for all repairs, maintenance, and servicing carried out.
  • Support the Operations team to ensure our Rail Plant is maintained to the standard and quality required for executing the work safely and efficiently.
  • Conducting and maintaining detailed analysis for all items of rolling stock to ensure all risks are identified, assessed and where relevant, appropriate controls are implemented in accordance with the hierarchy of controls.
  • Responsible for leading the ‘Management of Change’ process for our rolling stock assets.
  • Gaining, maintaining and assigning registration on networks as necessary through the respective rail infrastructure manager for all items of rolling stock to be used on their network.

About you

  • Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent preferred
  • Extensive experience within the rail industry with demonstrated experience managing rolling stock
  • Exposure to Australian Rail Network owners
  • Basic to intermediate computer skills
  • In-depth knowledge of Rail Industry and Rail Network requirements
  • Ability to communicate with and engage with multiple diverse stakeholders to ensure best for business outcomes are achieved.
