St Bart’s is a Western Australian not-for-profit organisation founded in 1963 as a small homeless shelter for men. For nearly 60 years, we have been standing by the side of vulnerable Western Australians experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness, mental health challenges, trauma and hardship. About the roleAs the Recovery Support Worker, you will be the first point of contact for consumers accessing St Bart’s services. You will play a critical role in ensuring a safe, secure, and supported environment is provided for all consumers, with the aim of building their capacity and developing their skills for transition onto independent living. This is a “lone worker” position working at our 6-bed facility, so your demonstrated ability to work without direct supervision and ability to work within limited direction will make you an ideal candidate for this position.
Your core responsibilities in this position will include:
- Providing day-to-day psychosocial, social, and daily living support to individuals experiencing severe and persistent mental health challenges
- Consistently advocating for consumers to develop networks within the community
- Manage consumer safety and risk, act within St Bart’s policies and report on incidents as required
- Prepare and maintain appropriate records and a range of administrative and housing related tasks
This is a Part time, permanent role - 21.1 hours per week 2 x days one week, 5 days the following, Sunday to Monday.
Evening shifts (4.45pm – 9.45pm), Weekends (11.00am – 8.00pm)If these hours do not suit, we do have casual work available please refer to our website.
Taking into consideration the qualifications, skills, and experience of the successful applicant the base salary offered for this position spans from $63,646 to $69,436 (pro-rata to hours worked) plus appropriate penalties, allowances, and superannuation.
About you
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Recovery Support Worker to support our consumers in their recovery journey. To be successful in this position you must be comfortable working alone, able to think on your feet, use your initiative and work as an effective team member.
In addition, our ideal candidate has:
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skill
- Minimum certificate III in Community Services, Mental Health or related discipline or working towards a degree in a related field
- Knowledge and understanding of wellness, recovery, and trauma informed principles
- The ability to problem solve and work autonomously while under pressure
