About us:

The Department of Education is committed to giving all children a great start, engaging young people in learning, creating safe and inclusive workplaces and investing in communities for a stronger Queensland. The Early Childhood Regulatory Authority (ECRA) in the department is responsible for regulating Queensland's early childhood education and care sector. The Licensing team within ECRA is responsible for deciding applications for early childhood education and care providers and services in Queensland, primarily under the National Quality Framework.

Your Role:

The role is within ECRA's Licensing Team to:

  • Apply relevant early childhood education and care (ECEC) legislation, standards, policies and procedures when undertaking administrative tasks that support the licensing team in deciding applications and notifications in line with the Regulating for Quality policy.
  • Be the first point of contact with applicants and the sector, to ensure the efficient intake and progression of regulatory matters, and responses to regulatory enquiries. Duties may include assisting in the preparation of correspondence, reports, briefs and other documentation in a timely manner, while maintaining integrity and confidentiality.

The Regulatory Support Officer reports to the Manager, Licensing, Early Childhood Regulatory Authority, Early Childhood Branch, Early Childhood and State Schools Division.

Responsibilities include:

  • Acting as the first point of contact, monitoring and following up on regulatory matters and prioritising work according to risk.
  • Implementing administrative procedures to ensure efficient intake and progression of regulatory matters in accordance with the ECEC legislation and principles of good administrative decision making, including processing financial transactions, such as application and annual fees, as required.
  • Monitoring, processing, validating applications as required, tracking and escalating matters according to risk.
  • Coordinating team workflow using regulatory systems and databases, ensuring correct data capture and review.
  • Providing support in the maintenance of records, and regulatory and records management systems to ensure accuracy and compliance with information management requirements.
