This role is based in VP HR Office Team, within the Operations Division at UNSW.
Why your Role Matters As the Risk and Assurance Specialist sitting within our HR Quality and Compliance function, you will play a crucial role in uplifting the University’s HR-related compliance capabilities. Working closely with Quality and Compliance team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive controls and Assurance strategies in line with UNSW’s strategic priorities and responsibilities.
As a Risk and compliance expert, you will provide independent and objective assurance and advisory services to our internal stakeholders that ensures compliance to key HR standards and builds compliance and risk management into our business-as-usual practices. This role reports directly to the Director, Employee Relations and works collaboratively across the HR function to build existing capabilities and ensure the seamless integration of improved assurance activities.
Accountabilities:
Develop, implement and maintain a comprehensive HR Compliance Assurance framework.
Oversee compliance processes and procedures around fair work, EA compliance, working with children checks, recruitment, record keeping, conflicts of interest, and visas.
Proactively identify and prioritise HR-related risks to help the business design and operationalise mitigation efforts.
Provide technical expertise and comprehensive analysis of risk areas to implement best practice as well as overseeing continuous improvement initiatives.
Act as SME for compliance matters and actively liaise and consult with HR, Faculties and Divisions stakeholders.
Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness of assurance activities, developing high quality reports in collaboration with the Workforce Analytics
Who you are: We’re seeking a strong background in Risk and controls, ideally within a professional HR setting. As a natural problem solver and analytical thinker, you’ll bring existing experience in controls design to implement and improve quality assurance processes and practices in a large and complex environment.
