The Risk and Compliance Officer is responsible for supporting the Principal to embed and maintain the School’s Risk and Compliance systems, practices, and procedures to ensure that it complies with current legal and regulatory obligations, and aligns with BCE system requirements.
This position will work across two schools (St Joseph’s School, KANGAROO POINT and Holy Spirit School, NEW FARM) with a Workplace Health & Safety component included at St Joseph's School, Kangaroo Point.
Risk and Compliance Officer role:
This is a newly created position which will be supported by Brisbane Catholic Education with training and a network of colleagues in the same or similar position across our primary schools. The position includes Risk and Compliance elements across our school’s operations including workplace health and safety.
Key result areas include:
- Embed and maintain policies and procedures
- Promote a strong culture of Risk and Compliance awareness across our school
- Provide risk management training to staff
- Report on Risk and Compliance tasks
- Identify opportunities to adapt system processes to the school’s context
- Maintain strong connections to system and school stakeholders.
You will bring to the role:
- Previous Risk and Compliance administration or management experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- A people-centric approach that supports good relationships within the school and broader organisation
- Experience providing Risk and Compliance advice to leadership and colleagues
- An organised approach to work including time and priority management.
Workplace Health & Safety Officer role:
Included in the role at St Joseph's School, KANGAROO POINT is the position of Workplace Health and Safety Officer. The successful applicant will support the commitment of St Joseph's in ensuring safety in the school environment.
Key result areas include:
- An ability to plan and manage time to complete required tasks, independently, whilst maintaining clear communication with relevant line manager
- Confidence using IT Systems and the Microsoft Office 365 package to manage tasks and document compliance
- Ability to multi-task, to assist in the day to day running of the school, and forward plan using the calendar
- Initiative and problem-solving skills to work successfully as part of a dynamic team with a degree of self-direction and motivation
You will bring to the role:
- Qualifications and experience in Workplace Health and Safety
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Good communication skills
- ICT skills.
