The Curriculum and LearningDivision, Curriculum Programs Directorate is focused on increasingthe engagement and challenge in learning for every learner. Thiswork strives for consistent implementation of curriculum, pedagogy,and programs across all levels of schooling. The department'sSchool Sport and Water Safety programs are part of CurriculumPrograms Directorate in the Curriculum and LearningDivision.
Sport and Water Safety are anintegral part of the department's education program for SouthAustralian schools and contributes to its vision of a highperforming system which improves the educational attainment andwellbeing of South Australia's children and young people. Thedepartment supports sport and Water Safety through policydevelopment, curriculum initiatives, professional developmentopportunities, resources, the statewide school sport program -School Sport SA, and the national program - School Sport Australiaand the Water Safety program that includes a pool-based program, anextended program for eligible students with disabilities, a surfeducation program, and an aquatics program.
About theRole:
As the Manager of Sport &Water Safety Programs, you will play a pivotal role in drivingstrategic leadership and management initiatives. Your expertisewill shape the direction of our statewide programs and services,ensuring compliance with government regulations and departmentalpolicies.
Key responsibilities willinclude:
- Lead the development and delivery of Australian Curriculum and SACE sport and water Safety Programs.
- Strategically plan the future of our Sport and Water Safety Programs in alignment with our department's Strategic Plan, implementing effective governance and communication strategies.
- Oversee professional practices, child protection, asset management, and financial governance to maintain high standards.
- Foster the development and management of a skilled sport and Water Safety education workforce, ensuring equitable service provision and staff development.
- Cultivate collaborative relationships with stakeholders to enhance program delivery and influence innovative approaches.
- Provide expert advice within the department on matters related to school sport, physical activity, and Water Safety.
- Represent the department at industry and education forums to advocate for quality education and enhanced sports and Water Safety outcomes.

Qualifications &Experience:
- Essential an appropriate tertiary qualification in education or related area and equivalent experience.
- Desirable Sport, Aquatics and Recreation industry experience.
SpecialConditions:
The successful applicant isrequired to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working withchildren check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required tobe renewed every five years before expiry. The incumbent will berequired to undertake RRHAN –EC (Responding to Risks of Harm,Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass)extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course which will berequired to be updated every three years.

Remuneration:
S121-5: $149,582per annum (1.0FTE), plus superannuation.
