Sydney Metro West - Central Tunnelling Package
The AFJV, Acciona Construction Australia Pty Ltd and Ferrovial (Construction Australia) Pty Ltd was awarded a $1.96 billion contract to start tunnelling on the mega Sydney Metro West project.
Construction includes the delivery of 11 kilometres of twin metro rail tunnels between Sydney Olympic Park and The Bays.
With construction having commenced, the Safety Team are looking to engage a Safety Advisor to help our team at The Bays who will be responsible for the following:
- Safety Analysis and Implementation
AFJV identifies that keeping our people safe in their work environment is one of our most important tasks, as such this role is accountable for implementing, monitoring and improving safety processes and initiatives across the Project. - Incident Management and Investigations
To ensure that our project is continuously finding new opportunities to develop our safety strategy, you will be required to partake in on site investigations, conduct incident report, assess near miss reports and implement corrective and/or preventative actions resulting from your analysis. Additionally, you will be required to work with the management team with Return to Work cases and plans for employees. - Training and Development
Deliver safety training to site personnel and in partnership with the site supervision team, facilitate site inductions to new and/or existing personnel. You will be required to present regular tool box talks to all site personnel to learning and development opportunities across the project. - Supportive Advice
Provide expert advice to the site and project management teams to ensure the effective management of Safety related risks. You will be required to conduct regular site walks with the Construction Team to identify and report on site improvements and potential hazards. - Improvement & Innovation
Identify opportunities, make recommendations and implement improvements to project processes, policies and work practices.
Competencies we are after:
- Tertiary qualification in Health and Safety or a relevant discipline
- 2+ years' experience in a Safety role, ideally within the construction industry, tunnel experience is desirable.
- Hold a General Construction Induction (White Card) (or willing to obtain one)
- Strong knowledge of Safety management principles, techniques and tools
- Ability to provide accurate and timely advice
