SalaryThis is a great opportunity for Senior Associate or Special Counsel level Property & Leasing Lawyer who wants the best of both worlds: to continue working on high-profile and complex matters with a very competent team of Property Lawyers, the flexibility to work from home full-time, and an enthusiastic path to Partnership.
They have a loyal base of sophisticated property clients, including some of the largest retailers in Australia, major property developers and owners, and commercial clients with dozens of sites. From a technical perspective this role will primarily focus on leasing matters across Australia. There is also a solid stream of acquisitions, disposals and development matters coming through the practice for sites across Victoria (up to $100m), so if you want to keep a hand in transaction work it is also available for you.
The Partner of this practice is recognised as one of Australia’s highest-regarded Property & Leasing Lawyers (by Best Lawyers & Doyles). There is a junior SA and a team of well-trained juniors to help you get through the work. This is a growth role with the purpose of freeing up the Partner to focus on growing the client base and practice out further.
We are looking for a senior practitioner who can take the lead on matters and be a primary point of contact with clients. The Partner is not at all the type to hog client relationships and instead is enthusiastic about transitioning clients while he chases down new opportunities.
As the most senior practitioner under the Partner your own progression to Partnership is very much on the cards here. Naturally that comes with an expectation of developing a client-base of your own, and there is a generous bonus structure here to reward you for all clients you bring in (so you don’t need to wait until you have a full book of work to get the reward and promotion).
If, however, you are happy to stick at SC level and treat this as more of a lifestyle job, that is totally fine as it solves the primary purpose of the role.
