Come and join the dynamic team delivering Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport, the lynchpin of the extraordinary transformation currently underway to develop Sydney's third city and Aerotropolis. One of the largest and most exciting infrastructure projects underway in Australia, Western Sydney International (WSI) will open to international, domestic and air cargo services in late 2026 and will eventually grow to be one of Australia's biggest gateways to the world. About the OpportunityReporting to the Executive Manager First Nations, this newly created position will support, develop and deliver communication and engagement strategies that maximise opportunities and outcomes for First Nations people in Western Sydney. These outcomes contribute towards Australia's reconciliation journey and support WSI's commitment to economic prosperity.This role is best suited to a person who identifies as a First Nations person as they will be required to work closely with and have knowledge of our local First Nations community and align with a broader plan to prioritise First Nations opportunities across Western Sydney.The position is for a maximum term to December 2026, beyond then WSI will continue to be a place of real opportunity. Key responsibilities:Consult with diverse stakeholders to support initiatives and programs to celebrate, respect and acknowledge First Nations cultural heritage.Involvement in the consultation, development and delivery of WSI's second Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), advocating the perspectives of First Nations communities into business decisions and outcomes.Build meaningful relationships across WSI, our Delivery Partners and Contractors to lead open and honest communication with the First Nations community regarding the Airport's construction phase through to operations.Maintain a comprehensive view of the First Nations community and stakeholder landscape across Western Sydney and apply knowledge of Culture and the issues of relevance to First Nations people to support positive socioeconomic outcomes.Collaborate with WSI's Community Engagement and Social Impact team, and other teams across the organisation to engage First Nations communities.Contribute to Australia's reconciliation journey by supporting WSI to develop, deliver and administer our First Nations program, including the Reconciliation Action Plan.About You:Tertiary qualifications or equivalent relevant experience in community engagement and communications, or other relevant disciplines such as First Nations education or social programs.Significant experience working in a role involving First Nations engagement or the delivery of socioeconomic or cultural programs.Strong cultural connection and demonstrated passion to actively promote First Nations People.Demonstrated ability to network with diverse First Nations stakeholders and community groups.Strong administration skills with a high attention to detail.Strong interpersonal skills with excellent written and oral communications & presentation skills.A proactive solution-focussed attitude and commitment to upholding the cultural values of the organisation.Excellent skills and experience building trusted, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.Demonstrated ability and a keen sense of initiative by being a self-starter, with a proactive approach to tasks and accountabilities.Effective organisational skills including planning, aligning, and situational adaptability/change and ability to manage conflicting priorities.Able to work effectively both independently and as part of the team.Current NSW Drivers Licence desirable and willingness for required out-of-hours work, including some weekends.If you are a First Nations person who is passionate about promoting First Nations cultures and connections, apply now to join the team at WSI and make a difference in the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Western Sydney.
